Prof. Dr. Elif Vatanoğlu Lutz, professor of medical history and ethics, graduated from Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 1999. In 2007, she completed her doctorate in Medical History and Ethics at the same faculty.
She served as a faculty member at Yeditepe University Faculty of Medicine between 2008-2014, at Koç University Faculty of Medicine between 2014-2020, and in the Health Law doctoral program at Kadir Has University Faculty of Law between 2008-2011. Driven by her interest in the relationship between all social science disciplines and medicine, she founded the Oxytocin Medicine and Art Platform in 2019 after conducting numerous lectures and researches in the field of ‘medical humanities’, especially in the ‘medicine and art’ discipline. She is currently a faculty member at Yeditepe University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Medical History and Ethics.
Born in 1975, Prof. Dr. Elif VATANOĞLU LUTZ graduated from Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 1999. She completed her doctoral education in medical history and ethics at the same university. Since 2007, she has been teaching at the Departments of Medical History and Ethics at Koç University and Yeditepe University Faculties of Medicine. She conducts academic studies on the intersection points of medicine with fields such as history, philosophy, ethics, law, anthropology, sociology, literature, visual arts, and performing arts. In 2019, she founded the Oxytocin Medicine and Art Platform to organize events that bring together the medical and art worlds. In 2021, Prof. Dr. Elif VATANOĞLU LUTZ became the first Turkish woman to receive the international Gusi Peace Prize, known as the Nobel of Asia, as an academician combining medicine and art.
